My Mental Health experiences

Mental health is as big, if not bigger, of an issue as it has ever been before. It seems to me like in today's society most people, especially men, are pushing away their struggles in fear of people judging them. Mental wellness has always been a thing I struggled with due to pressure to succeed in sports, but as I have gotten older I realized it follows me wherever I go. But, I can overcome it using strategies that I have discovered through the year such as music, shooting around on a basketball court, or playing any outdoor activity. These strategies may not work for everyone but, it can be a good starting point for someone who is not sure what they can do to help themselves.

In this picture I am golfing at Disney World. This was the day I realized golf was going to probably be my favorite hobby for the rest of my life. Especially, when I need to just get away from everything.

  1. Hey Tucker!
I agree, mental health is playing a bigger role now than it ever has before. I can relate that most people may feel embarrassed to address their struggles. I can also relate to the pressure to succeed in sports as my dad was my high school baseball coach. I’m glad you discovered strategies to calm yourself down or relieve stress. Sometimes when I get stressed I like to go on a walk or take a couple of deep breaths. Cool picture! Golf seems like a fun hobby to pick up, especially in warm Florida weather!

  2. Hey Tucker! I really like this post. And definitely agree that mental health has become a bigger issue in todays world, people struggle with mental health a lot. People do push away their feelings because they are scared of judgement, we need to be creating more safe places so people feel comfortable sharing how they feel and not feeling judged by others.

It is very important to find things that boost your mental health and make you happy. Finding these hobbies are a major boost to your mental health, because you know they can always help turn things around. I also use gold as one of my mental boosts! every time I play I leave in a better mood.

  4. Hi Tucker, I agree with you that mental health has increased dramatically. Mental health was a big part of my sports career as well. As a young kid, I had to deal with it myself and teach myself to control my emotions. I had people and coaches along the way help out as well. I like how you included a picture of you golfing. I golf as well and I think it's a great stress reliever.
